Some of the dogs in our program are adopted before we get to know them. Some stay longer but require several weeks to show their character. Some dogs receive additional evaluations and training by professionals if needed.
We work hard to provide as much information as possible, but the process is not perfect. Our goal is to give the dogs the best chance to stay in their home for the rest of their lives so we are genuine regarding what we know about them. For MPR, quality of our placements takes precedence over a quick turnaround.
We do our very best to update the dogs' bios as quickly as we can. In some cases, dogs are adopted before we are able to revise their listing.
Please do not contact MPR via email or messenger to inquire about a dog’s personality and/or temperament, compatibility with other pets, etc. The volunteers in charge of replying to general requests are not the same as those handling and evaluating the dogs. They will not be able to answer your questions.
Missouri Pit Bull Rescue makes no express or implied warranty, representation or promise to the age, health, breed, habits, disposition, behaviors, obedience, or safety of the dogs in our program. Our assessments are subjective and based on information we receive when selecting the dogs for our program, as well as observations and reports from our volunteers and caretakers. Adopters understand that no one can predict how a dog will act or react under all circumstances and situations.
Background Info:
Sephora originally came into the city shelter as a stray before joining MPR the first time. We were smitten with her loving personality and she was quickly adopted. Unfortunately, circumstances changed in her family and Sephora has ended back up at MPR. This sweet girl belongs in a loving home!

Health Condition:
Sephora has some allergies that are most likely environmental. They are currently being managed with Apoquel (doggie allergy med), wiping her paws down, and baths. Sweet Sephora actually likes all this pampering and hands her paws right over to you to keep her fresh! She is named after a beauty line after all lol!
When she first came into the city shelter Sephora had an eye condition called entropion, where her eyelids rolled inwards causing irritation. She had surgery on all four eyelids and has been doing well. Recently the right eye has shown to still roll inwards slightly and caused irritation. She was treated with eye ointment and is being monitored for further issues, but her beaming and loving eyes are doing great!
This sweet lady came back to MPR fairly overweight. She is doing quite well with her new diet regimen and has found her spunk again! This girl is fully embracing her new lust for life!
Physical Description:
Sephora has the most endearing eyes, the kind that melt your heart! She's a short gal with large paddle like feet and a round body with a sideways little tail. That tail never stops wagging! Sephora came back to us a little heftier and is doing great on a little diet.
Current Living Situation:
Sephora is currently living at the MPR shelter. She keeps her kennel clean, is well-behaved, and non-destructive. Sephora is enjoying all the special attention from the volunteers during her stay at the shelter. She is so full of joy and loves to zoomie around the playroom shortly then curl up with the volunteers for belly rubs!
Sephora also temporarily stayed in a foster home before coming to the shelter. The foster home is a medium sized home with a medium sized yard enclosed in by a 4' wood fence. The yard has a concrete patio which is where she preferred to stay. We think she may prefer to not be on grass. Her foster home had an adult female and an 18 year old male. Sephora slept in her crate some nights and free in the house on others. Whether she needs to be crated at bedtime or you are lucky enough to snuggle this cutie, Sephora adapts well! She also stayed peacefully in her kennel while home alone. She preferred short walks but always got excited to go!
Personality:
This sweet angel of a girl is just about the best mix of goofball and snuggle buddy. She has a lower energy level, but is still very happy and outgoing! She is a very laid back and easy to handle dog. Sephora will greet you after work with the wiggliest booty and big stretching leg hugs! She makes sure her human knows they are the apple of her eye.
Behavior with people:
This adoring lady is so happy to meet adults of all ages. Sephora is so gentle when she meets people, almost falling right into a back flop so she can collect some rightfully due belly rubs! Want to be goofy and run around the house real quick? She's your gal! Next step is jumping on the couch with a movie and some snuggles, Sephora is still your girl!
Behavior with children:
Sephora seems to show good behavior with kids. We think she could possibly live in a home with kids and responsible parents.
Behavior with other dogs:
We are working on getting to know Sephora and how she behaves with other dogs. At this time we think she prefers to be the solo queen of her castle.
Behavior with other animals:
Sephora has shown some interest in the cats in her former foster home. We think she would do best in a home with no cats.
Training:
Sephora has shown to keep her kennel and crate clean and wait to go potty outside in her foster home. She knows sit and waits for her food to be placed on the floor and told to be free to eat. While Sephora isn't necessarily stubborn, she just prefers to test her people. Once she knows you won't let her get away with something she is your number one fan!

L.O.V.E! Sephora has so much love to give! She will be your best friend and listen to all your troubles, then give the softest little kisses to make you smile! Who doesn't need Sephora love in their life?!?!
