Before applying for a dog, please take a moment to review our Adoption Information & Procedures

Some of the dogs in our program are adopted before we get to know them. Some stay longer but require several weeks to show their character. Some dogs receive additional evaluations and training by professionals if needed.

We work hard to provide as much information as possible, but the process is not perfect. Our goal is to give the dogs the best chance to stay in their home for the rest of their lives so we are genuine regarding what we know about them. For MPR, quality of our placements takes precedence over a quick turnaround.

We do our very best to update the dogs' bios as quickly as we can. In some cases, dogs are adopted before we are able to revise their listing.

Please do not contact MPR via email or messenger to inquire about a dog’s personality and/or temperament, compatibility with other pets, etc. The volunteers in charge of replying to general requests are not the same as those handling and evaluating the dogs. They will not be able to answer your questions.

Missouri Pit Bull Rescue makes no express or implied warranty, representation or promise to the age, health, breed, habits, disposition, behaviors, obedience, or safety of the dogs in our program. Our assessments are subjective and based on information we receive when selecting the dogs for our program, as well as observations and reports from our volunteers and caretakers. Adopters understand that no one can predict how a dog will act or react under all circumstances and situations.

Background Info:

Rainbow came to MPR from the city shelter. Details about her life prior are unknown.

Adoption Fee: $150
Breed: Pit Bull/English Bulldog Mix
Sex: Female
Age: 1-3 lbs
Weight: 40-50 lbs

Health Condition:

Rainbow is healthy and ready for adoption!

Physical Description:

Rainbow is a charming and affectionate pint-sized girl with a beautiful tri-colored coat. Her brown, tan, and white coat makes her a unique, majestic, and just plain gorgeous little gal to have by your side! She also has angelic brown eyes filled with so much love. She uses her adorable ears to help indicate her feelings.

Current Living Situation:

Rainbow is living at the MPR shelter. She has exhibited some stress while adjusting to the new environment and routine, which is not uncommon. Volunteers are actively working with her to help get her acclimated, curb her stress level, and get her fully house trained.

Personality:

Rainbow is often calm and relaxed, but sometimes she will greet you with all her wiggles of excitement! When on a leash, she demonstrates exemplary behavior by walking right next to you. She could benefit from some confidence-building exercises. Car rides?? Yes please! Rainbow does need a little help getting in the car, but once inside, she settles down and remains a wonderful companion.

Rainbow is an easy going and easy to handle dog. Our volunteers describe her as having a medium to low energy level. She is extremely sweet, gives delightful kisses, and longs for affection. Rainbow loves to have stuffy time and play fetch!

Behavior with people:

Rainbow is generally a bit reserved when meeting new people. Our volunteers have noticed that it takes her some time to warm up to individuals, and this may vary depending on the person. She often warms up with the offering of treats! She would possibly thrive in a calmer environment, with mild activity while she learns to become more social.

Behavior with children:

Unknown. Rainbow has not had exposure to children since being with MPR, but given her more reserved nature we kindly suggest a home with adults. While she might potentially adapt to living with her own family that has children, adjusting to kids coming and going may be overwhelming for her. If this changes, we will promptly update her bio.

Behavior with other dogs:

Unknown. It is uncertain how Rainbow will behave in a home with another dog. However, with careful introductions and guidance from experienced owners, it is possible that she may be able to coexist with a compatible male dog.

Behavior with other animals:

Unknown. Rainbow has shown minimal prey drive at this time.

Training:

Rainbow quickly conquered the doggie door. Volunteers work with her every shift to master commands like Sit, Wait, Down, Leave it, Place, and Free. She is food motivated and eager to please, which makes training easy and fun! Rainbow will thrive with continued training in her forever home.

Best Attribute:

Rainbow's short stacked size makes her the perfect little companion for a loving human with a passion for car rides and walkies. She is learning to love toys, life, and looking for the perfect person to wiggle her lil behind right into your arms! Rainbow is ready to be yours!
