Before applying for a dog, please take a moment to review our Adoption Information & Procedures
Some of the dogs in our program are adopted before we get to know them. Some stay longer but require several weeks to show their character. Some dogs receive additional evaluations and training by professionals if needed.
We work hard to provide as much information as possible, but the process is not perfect. Our goal is to give the dogs the best chance to stay in their home for the rest of their lives so we are genuine regarding what we know about them. For MPR, quality of our placements takes precedence over a quick turnaround.
We do our very best to update the dogs' bios as quickly as we can. In some cases, dogs are adopted before we are able to revise their listing.
Please do not contact MPR via email or messenger to inquire about a dog’s personality and/or temperament, compatibility with other pets, etc. The volunteers in charge of replying to general requests are not the same as those handling and evaluating the dogs. They will not be able to answer your questions.
Missouri Pit Bull Rescue makes no express or implied warranty, representation or promise to the age, health, breed, habits, disposition, behaviors, obedience, or safety of the dogs in our program. Our assessments are subjective and based on information we receive when selecting the dogs for our program, as well as observations and reports from our volunteers and caretakers. Adopters understand that no one can predict how a dog will act or react under all circumstances and situations.
Background Info:
Max Rebo was brought into the city pound as a stray. They believed he would be a perfect candidate for our program and we agreed.
Adoption Fee: $150
Breed: Pit Bull mix
Sex: Male
Age: 3-5 yrs
Weight: 70-80 lbs
Health Condition:
Max came in slightly underweight but with a proper diet, he is quickly getting to healthy weight. He is otherwise healthy and ready to be adopted into a loving home!
Physical Description:
Max is on the larger side for Pit Bull dogs. He is taller in height with the classic, big Pit Bull block head. Max has a beautiful blue-steel coat with white spots on his chest and nose. While he is larger in size, he was blessed with the most puppy dog eyes that he uses to entice our volunteers into giving him lots of loving and treats.
Current Living Situation:
Currently residing at the MPR shelter, Max has shown that he knows to go outside when it is time to use the bathroom. He is adjusting well to his kennel but would love a much larger space to live in and thinks your home would be just perfect.
Personality:
Max Rebo is a total goofball love bug. This big hunk is sure to make you laugh throughout the day with his puppy-like antics in his adult body. Always extremely excited to greet our volunteers, Max loves to give big slobbery kisses then bring over a toy to chew on while he cuddles up against you. Max does not have the greatest attention span and is always ready for the next adventure. And the next and the next.
Behavior with people:
Max absolutely adores the volunteers at the shelter and thinks he is a lap dog. While we tell him he is not, he doesn't believe us and loves to lay across your lap while you give him belly rubs. He can be such a Velcro dog that sometimes our volunteers aren't sure where Max went, only to find him right behind them making sure they aren't going anywhere without him. We are okay with saying that Max is a stage-5 clinger but in the best way possible.
Behavior with children:
Max will need to go to a home with teenage or older children. While his intentions are good, Max does not always know his size and can be a bit much for smaller children. We do believe he would be a good candidate for older, active teenagers that can take him on adventures.
Behavior with other dogs:
We believe that with proper introductions Max could live with a compatible female.
Behavior with other animals:
We have not seen Max interact with any other animals.
Training:
The MPR training team is working with Max to teach him basic commands. He knows 'sit' and 'down' and is in the process of learning more. Our shelter walkers have noted that Max is good on the leash and is very curious with the outside world.
Best Attribute:
Max Rebo does not know what a bad day is. He is constantly making our volunteers laugh and is always a joy to be around. Max will be your new best friend and will make it his life mission to make you happy. We do warn that you may end up being the dog mom/dad that is constantly telling your friends and family about how great your dog is because he has such an infectious personality.
Even if you can’t adopt this sweetheart, you can still help by donating for their care.
