Before applying for a dog, please take a moment to review our Adoption Information & Procedures
Some of the dogs in our program are adopted before we get to know them. Some stay longer but require several weeks to show their character. Some dogs receive additional evaluations and training by professionals if needed.
We work hard to provide as much information as possible, but the process is not perfect. Our goal is to give the dogs the best chance to stay in their home for the rest of their lives so we are genuine regarding what we know about them. For MPR, quality of our placements takes precedence over a quick turnaround.
We do our very best to update the dogs' bios as quickly as we can. In some cases, dogs are adopted before we are able to revise their listing.
Please do not contact MPR via email or messenger to inquire about a dog’s personality and/or temperament, compatibility with other pets, etc. The volunteers in charge of replying to general requests are not the same as those handling and evaluating the dogs. They will not be able to answer your questions.
Missouri Pit Bull Rescue makes no express or implied warranty, representation or promise to the age, health, breed, habits, disposition, behaviors, obedience, or safety of the dogs in our program. Our assessments are subjective and based on information we receive when selecting the dogs for our program, as well as observations and reports from our volunteers and caretakers. Adopters understand that no one can predict how a dog will act or react under all circumstances and situations.
Background Info:
Ginger Ale was previously adopted out of the local city shelter. Unfortunately, the adoption was not a success due to her adopting family having a female dog of their own. After 2 years, at no fault of her own she was surrendered to the city shelter as the 2 dogs were not getting along. She was a volunteer favorite at the shelter and a plea was made to MPR to save her.
Adoption Fee: $150
Breed: Pit Bull mix
Sex: Female
Age: 3-5 yrs
Weight: 50-60 lbs
Health Condition:
Ginger Ale is of great health and is ready to be adopted today!
Physical Description:
Ginger Ale is built like a runway model- tall, thin, and gorgeous. She has a beautiful golden brown coat and the classic pitbull big ole' noggin. She also has slightly larger ears than normal for the pitbull breed that hang off to the side but flap in the wind as she sprints through the shelter yard. You may be looking at pictures of Ginger Ale and wondering "why does this dog always look so irritated?" Our volunteers refer to this look as "resting pit face" but do not be fooled, Ginger does not have the personality to match even though everyone gets a kick out of her serious stare.
Current Living Situation:
Ginger Ale resides at the MPR shelter and keeps a clean kennel. Having previously lived in a home, she has shown to be house broken and has not had any accidents in our playrooms. Her previous family stated that she would be kept in her kennel for 6-8 hours while they were at work and that she did fine holding her bladder with them as well.
Personality:
Ginger Ale has not let her unfortunate life circumstance of leaving a home and being placed in a shelter keep her down one bit. This girl is always so happy to see our volunteers. She likes to start out at full speed and get some zoomies in but is then ready to relax when you are and will occupy your lap if allowed. Even with her Resting Pit Face, when happy, Ginger will break out a mile wide smile and let you know that she is so pleased to be with you. Ginger is the best of both worlds, if you want to run and play she can match that energy but if you want to relax and watch tv, she is fine with that too, just as long as she is touching you.
Behavior with people:
Ginger has been an immediate hit with our MPR volunteer team. She can not greet you with a kiss quick enough. Ginger so badly wants to know the love of a family again and does her part by showering you with snuggles and kisses right away. Ginger truly has a heart of gold and you can see it in her eyes when she is laying on your lap staring into your eyes.
Behavior with children:
Ginger Ale will need to go to a home with teenagers or adults only. Ginger gets very excited to see her humans and sometimes her excitement overtakes her body and she gets a little jumpy. This is a correctable habit but not one that mixes well with small children.
Behavior with other dogs:
We believe that Ginger Ale would be most successful as an only pet.
Behavior with other animals:
We have not yet seen how Ginger Ale interacts with wildlife but will update her profile as we learn more.
Training:
**Athlete alert** Ginger Ale's athleticism is quite the sight to behold. This girl is FAST. She loves to lap our big yard at the shelter and has shown she has some serious hops as well. She has already shown that she enjoys taking on the tire course at the shelter and is extremely intelligent. Our MPR training team is working with her daily on commands.
Best Attribute:
She is beautiful, she is funny, she is athletic, but most of all Ginger Ale is a lover. If looks could talk, Ginger would be saying "omgosh i love you so much" over and over. She does not let life get her down and is just happy to have volunteers to love on. However, she would much prefer a forever home and a family of her own to call her pretty everyday and someone she can give kisses to.
Even if you can’t adopt this sweetheart, you can still help by donating for their care.
