Before applying for a dog, please take a moment to review our Adoption Information & Procedures
Some of the dogs in our program are adopted before we get to know them. Some stay longer but require several weeks to show their character. Some dogs receive additional evaluations and training by professionals if needed.
We work hard to provide as much information as possible, but the process is not perfect. Our goal is to give the dogs the best chance to stay in their home for the rest of their lives so we are genuine regarding what we know about them. For MPR, quality of our placements takes precedence over a quick turnaround.
We do our very best to update the dogs' bios as quickly as we can. In some cases, dogs are adopted before we are able to revise their listing.
Please do not contact MPR via email or messenger to inquire about a dog’s personality and/or temperament, compatibility with other pets, etc. The volunteers in charge of replying to general requests are not the same as those handling and evaluating the dogs. They will not be able to answer your questions.
Missouri Pit Bull Rescue makes no express or implied warranty, representation or promise to the age, health, breed, habits, disposition, behaviors, obedience, or safety of the dogs in our program. Our assessments are subjective and based on information we receive when selecting the dogs for our program, as well as observations and reports from our volunteers and caretakers. Adopters understand that no one can predict how a dog will act or react under all circumstances and situations.
Background Info:
Duster was brought into the city shelter with another dog. When the city shelter reached out and asked if we could take him in, the answer was an obvious yes!
Adoption Fee: $150
Breed: Pit Bull mix
Sex: Male
Age: 1-3 yrs
Weight: 50-55 lbs
Health Condition:
Duster is healthy and ready for adoption!
Physical Description:
Duster has some unique physical traits that make him extra cute! Per his namesake, Duster's tail is shorter than most Pitbull tails and is fluffy at the end, sticking out like a small brush ready to sweep all your floors as it wags in excitement. We believe that Duster may have also been born with a cleft pallet but are not certain of that. Perhaps his cutest feature is his 2 front teeth that slightly stick out while he is staring into your eyes. Other than all the cuteness described, he is of medium build, not too big or small and the perfect couch cuddle size.
Current Living Situation:
Duster resides at the MPR shelter and is adjusting well to the kennel life. He has shown to know that he needs to use his doggy door to go outside when it is time to go potty. He loves burrowing into a ball, deep in his blankets until it is his time out.
Personality:
Duster has a zest for life that we all could take notes from. This sweet boy is always very excited to greet the shelter workers and that famous tail seems to be wagging nonstop throughout the day. Sometimes he gets so excited that he will start hopping up and down in place as he just cannot contain how happy he is in the moment and wants everyone around him to feel the same way.
Behavior with people:
Duster loves his humans and loves to please. He will gladly greet you with lots of kisses and full body snuggles. Duster is down for whatever you are down for. Cuddles on the couch? Yes please. Playing with toys and balls? Yes please. Do you want to go for a long walk? Duster will be right by your side. He is well-rounded dog that really just wants to make you happy.
Behavior with children:
We believe Duster could live teenage aged children that can help him get his energy out.
Behavior with other dogs:
With proper, slow introductions, we believe that Duster could live with a compatible female.
Behavior with other animals:
We have not seen how Duster acts around cats or other animals but will update as we know more.
Training:
Being so eager to please, Duster is quickly learning the basic commands with our shelter workers. We expect him to learn more and more as time passes. Duster has also shown to be easy on the leash which is always a plus.
Best Attribute:
Duster is a happy dog that has so much love to give and is looking for a best friend to give this love to. When people say "dogs are mans best friend" dogs like Duster are evidence of that. All Duster needs is a chance and he will win you over and you will be so happy you chose him.
Even if you can’t adopt this sweetheart, you can still help by donating for their care.
