Before applying for a dog, please take a moment to review our Adoption Information & Procedures
Some of the dogs in our program are adopted before we get to know them. Some stay longer but require several weeks to show their character. Some dogs receive additional evaluations and training by professionals if needed.
We work hard to provide as much information as possible, but the process is not perfect. Our goal is to give the dogs the best chance to stay in their home for the rest of their lives so we are genuine regarding what we know about them. For MPR, quality of our placements takes precedence over a quick turnaround.
We do our very best to update the dogs' bios as quickly as we can. In some cases, dogs are adopted before we are able to revise their listing.
Please do not contact MPR via email or messenger to inquire about a dog’s personality and/or temperament, compatibility with other pets, etc. The volunteers in charge of replying to general requests are not the same as those handling and evaluating the dogs. They will not be able to answer your questions.
Missouri Pit Bull Rescue makes no express or implied warranty, representation or promise to the age, health, breed, habits, disposition, behaviors, obedience, or safety of the dogs in our program. Our assessments are subjective and based on information we receive when selecting the dogs for our program, as well as observations and reports from our volunteers and caretakers. Adopters understand that no one can predict how a dog will act or react under all circumstances and situations.
Background Info:
Cherry Blossom was hit by a car who thankfully stopped and took her to the house they thought she came from. Unfortunately it was not her home, but the kind person took her in for the night and even bandaged her up till they could take her to the city shelter in the morning. That's one lucky girl!
Adoption Fee: $150
Breed: Pit Bull mix
Sex: Female
Age: 1-3 yrs
Weight: 45-55 lbs
Health Condition:
Despite being hit by that car, which luckily wasn't going fast, Cherry had minimal scrapes and abrasions. She has healed up beautifully and is ready for her new home!
Physical Description:
This beautiful pint size athlete is a structural powerhouse with a strong square build and the cutest mini blockhead! Her high set pointy ears, big round eyes, and that vibrant smile just pulls it all together as the perfect package! In her eyes, she's a lap dog - laying her full body in your lap and giving all the kisses!
Current Living Situation:
Cherry Blossom is fostered in a home with one adult and senior male Pit Bull. She has access to a large fenced in yard which she loves! Cherry Blossom is supervised while out in the yard, and while she had not tested the boundaries of the 4-foot fence, her foster mom believes she could clear the fence. Cherry Blossom spends nights in her crate as well as during the work day. She is becoming more and more comfortable in her kennel, often entering it on her own. Her foster mom is working with her on her leash skills!
Cherry Blossom loves to spend time outside on the deck, soak up some sun, and watch over the yard! She also enjoys playtime with the male dog in the home.
Personality:
What a ball of optimism and pure joy! Cherry Blossom is just so happy and loves to spend time along side her foster mom. She enjoys running in the backyard. She has a playful personality, often playing with her foster brother, but can also entertain herself with her toys. Her hard bones are her favorite! She's also working on her fetch skills.
Behavior with people:
She seems to never know a stranger, which is apparent by the way she was found! She is very friendly, but can get overly excited when meeting new people. In these instances, she is responsive when her foster mom reminds her to keep her four paws on the ground.
Behavior with children:
Unknown. We have no information on how Cherry Blossom is around children but think she could live in a home with older kids and breed-knowledgeable adults.
Behavior with other dogs:
Cherry Blossom has been cohabitating with the senior male dog in her foster home. She initiates play well and takes correction when he is not interested. We believe Cherry could live with a compatible male with a similar level of playfulness following proper, slow introductions and good breed management.
Behavior with other animals:
While we have limited knowledge of her with other animals, Cherry Blossom has shown signs of prey drive and has a particular interest in small animals outside in the yard in her foster home. Because of this, we would recommend a home without other small animals such as cats.
Training:
Cherry Blossom has picked up crate training quickly and seems to be housebroken. She is mastering the "sit" command and is very responsive when trying to learn new tricks. She is a treat motivated girl!
Best Attribute:
To know Cherry Blossom is to know love and happiness! She is incredibly sweet and loves to shower her people in kisses! Her smile can light up a room. She's the best cuddler and wants to burrow her head in blankets and fully stretch out! She makes a wonderful couch partner! She's a great combination of playful and snuggly. It is so fun to watch her enjoy life!
Even if you can’t adopt this sweetheart, you can still help by donating for their care.
