Sunset was found as a stray and never claimed. This poor girl was emaciated, sad and desperately looking for love. We knew right away that with her even temperament and exquisite beauty, she would be a good fit for our program and find a home worthy of her remarkable attributes.

Health Condition:

Sunset has been treated for parasites, and we are working on getting her up to a healthy weight. She’s beautiful inside and out and will look even more astounding once she’s put some more meat on her bones.

Physical Description:

Holy sweet golden eyes! 😍 Sunset is a fawn brindled beauty with eyes that are just begging for love. She is a bit taller than average, has cute natural floppy ears and a precious pink snoot. The most remarkable about her physical appearance however, is that strikingly beautiful Bengal tiger coat. This dog is absolutely dazzling in person.



Current Living Situation:

Sunset is fostered in a dog-friendly apartment complex where she goes on daily walks. She is crated when home alone and at night. Crate-training is a work in progress. She whines for awhile once crated, but eventually stops. Sunset is crated while foster mom is at work but gets let out over lunch.



Personality:

Sunset is a happy girl, easy going and easy to handle. Her foster mom says she’s a great mix of playful and lazy. Sunset is well balanced in that regard. She is also very patient and observant. She has so much potential and is eager to learn everything about the world.

Behavior with people:

A social butterfly that doesn’t know a stranger! Sunset wants to meet allllllllll the humans and get all the pets. She pulls on her leash a bit when she’s eager to meet someone but doesn’t jump.



Behavior with children:

Unknown, but foster mom has not seen any concerning behavior. We suspect she could do fine with older kids who are respectful and know how to give her space.



Behavior with other dogs:

Before coming to MPR, Sunset was labeled as “dog social” at the local animal shelter. Foster mom has observed her with one other dog and said she did very well at all stages of the introduction. She is curious about the other dogs she sees around the apartment complex but doesn’t ever behave in a negative way, like barking or growling.



Because Sunset’s temperament is very easy going, we think she could get along with a compatible dog. A doggy sibling isn’t required though. This sweet girl would also love to be the center of someone’s attention. She certainly deserves to be!



Behavior with other animals:

Sunset has a medium prey drive. She pulls to go after squirrels that she sees on walks. Foster mom says she has met a few cats out and about and has done OK. She was very curious about them, but it’s uncertain if she would chase after them or not.

Training:

Potty training is in progress. She’s had a few accidents here and there, but foster mom says she’s mostly trained to go outside. Foster mom says she would feel comfortable letting Sunset roam free in the house once she’s 100% potty trained because she hasn’t shown any destructive behavior whatsoever.

As mentioned, Sunset doesn’t love going in her crate, but she is improving.



She knows a few commands like “sit” and “wait.” She is eager to please and responds very well to positive reinforcement. Foster mom says if she must tell Sunset “no”, she obeys.



Sunset pulls a bit on walks trying to go after a squirrel or when she sees a human she’s dying to meet. She also zigzags but is easy to handle.

Sunset’s sweet golden eyes will totally capture your heart. She’s loyal to her people and eager to please them. Her middle-level energy is just about perfect. She can play hard, but she can nap hard too, and delightedly, she also loves hard 😊
