Stellaluna

Aquarelle icon.jpg
Knocked from her mother’s safe embrace by an attacking owl, Stellaluna lands headfirst in a bird’s nest. This adorable fruit bat’s world is literally turned upside down when she is adopted by the occupants of the nest and adapts to their peculiar bird habits.

Background Info:

Stellaluna was initially found as a stray, taken to the local shelter and never claimed. We brought her into the program and she was quickly adopted by a loving home with kids & another dog. While she did well with everyone for the most part, her behavior with the older dog wasn't ideal, especially when they were out in the yard together. It was decided that Stella should find a new home as an only pet.
Adoption Fee: $ 200
Breed: Pit Bull
Sex: Female
Age: 2-4 yo
Weight: 45-55 lbs
Health Condition:
Stella is healthy and ready for adoption.

Physical Description:
She's gorgeous and even prettier in person than in her pictures. She has THE cutest overbite and adorable face. This buckskin beauty is smaller than average, muscular, and perfectly proportioned.

Current Living Situation:
Stella is temporarily living with her adoptive family in a home with a large fenced yard, two children ages 7 & 10, and a 9-year-old male Pit Bull.

Stella is crated when no one is home and is no trouble at all. She has zero issues with hanging out in there until her foster family comes home.

She sleeps in a bedroom with a family member with the door shut, in order to keep the dogs separated at night.

There is a 5' metal rod iron style fence in her foster home.

Stella is mostly housebroken; she has only had occasional accidents while she learns the ropes of the home, and her foster family learns her schedule.

Personality:
Stella is getting used to living the indoor life with all the new noises. Her ability to get used to loud noises and unexpected things is getting better! Her distaste of the vacuum needs some ongoing desensitization, as well as some other things like treadmills, etc.

Stella LOVES the water. She begs to hop in the shower with you, so she could easily be the cleanest dog on the block!

Her personality is silly and she is perfectly happy playing ball in the backyard and with her toys.

Behavior with people:
Stella loves the company of people (adult and kids)! Belly rubs are always welcomed and she just wants to be by your side, wherever you are in the house.

Her foster parents claim that she has not displayed any food or toy aggression with them or their kids. She's happy to share with others!

She is affectionate and loves to give kisses and hugs!

Behavior with children:
Foster family hasn't reported any issues with the kids. Stella seems at ease and happy around them.

Behavior with other dogs:
We believe that Stella would do best as an only pet. While she gets along with her foster doggy friend right now, she has displayed excitement over certain stimulus that could have escalated. We believe she would shine as the only 4-legged princess in the home and that would be the best situation for her.

Behavior with other animals:
No cats please. They look too fun to chase!

Training:
Stella knows a handful of words (kennel, outside, potty, sit, Stella, and no) and could certainly continue to learn more with some help. She is improving on her leash skills and loves going on walks to sniff everything outside. Things like squirrels catch her eye, and she would love to chase them if we would let her.
