Background Info:



We were told that Lilo and her sister, Nani, were thrown from a car into the street. They were discarded like trash, when it was the human who did this to them that is the real garbage. A good Samaritan witnessed this horrible scene, scooped these sweet little girls up, and took them to the local animal shelter. Thankfully they were not physically injured, just their broken hearts. 💔

Physical Description:

This growing girl has some traits that just give her so much personality! From her wonky ears to her striking eyes – it’ll be love at first sight when she meets her adopters. 😍



Current Living Situation:

Lilo is fostered in a home with two human adults, and two foster siblings – a senior female Pit, and a 5-year-old male Pittie.



Potty training is in progress and Lilo has access to a large yard with a privacy fence. She is crate-trained and stays in her crate when home alone. She does wonderfully with being crated and never has any accidents while inside. At night she gets to sleep loose, in bed with her foster parents and doggy siblings.



Personality:

This little girl has low energy. She’s slow to trust, which is completely understandable given her terrible past. She needs a patient owner as she learns to trust male humans and her surroundings when she’s not safe inside.

Behavior with people:

Lilo is timid when it comes to meeting new people and she has shown that she prefers women. This little angel really wants to meet new women with a happy wiggly butt, but instead she will run around unsure. She's very slow to trust men. After a while she will warm up to hand licks and quick pets. It will take some time for this girl’s broken heart to mend and learn to trust humans again.

Behavior with other dogs:

Lilo gets along with her foster siblings and in fact we think she would be most successful living with a compatible male dog in her furever home. A confident male will really help Lilo thrive by making her feel secure. Her foster mom says that Lilo relies on her male dog for assurance that things are ok. Lilo loves to show her affection with the other dogs in the home, whether it’s licking their faces, playing together, or just curling up with them for a snooze.



Behavior with other animals:

She loves to watch squirrels and birds. Lilo has not chased the squirrels but tries to catch birds. A home without small animals is recommended.

Training:

Lilo doesn’t bother with anything in the house that isn’t her toy – quite remarkable for a young dog! She knows “sit” and is working on potty training. Since she has trouble with trusting people, it’s a little bit difficult to train her on basic commands at this time. It will be important to use positive reinforcement with her once you earn her trust.

Best Attribute:

Despite her ugly past, Lilo has a fun and spunky personality, and she LOVES food – showing her excitement by running little circles around. Her eyes are mesmerizing, and we love to watch her chase bugs outside. This little doll will need a very patient owner to earn her trust, but they will be rewarded tenfold with her superb snuggling. 🥰
