Background Info:



This big dude was known in the neighborhood as everyone's friend, even though he was neglected by his owner. Often seen hanging out on the street, he was fed by people nearby who had taken a liking to him. Animal Control eventually intervened and Humphrey was finally brought to safety at the local shelter and then transferred to our program.

Health Condition:

He's a little underweight. His coat is a little dull and he probably battled a flea infestation recently, but that's all behind him. He's now well-fed, has been treated for parasites, and his fur is growing back thick and shiny. Otherwise, Humphrey, or "Bear" as his foster parents call him, is healthy and ready for adoption.

Physical Description:

A big-boned goofball with a beautiful tri-color coat including shiny rose gold that reflects beautifully in the sun. Bear is a stocky guy who might end up very close to 90lbs, possibly a few pounds more when he's gained all his weight back.



Current Living Situation:

Humphrey Bear is fostered in a home with adults and two other dogs. No kids or cats. There's a medium fenced yard in his foster home, which he loves spending time in during nice weather.



Bear is kept in a crate when no one is home and tolerates it. He needs a strong and sturdy crate since he is a strong and sturdy guy. Bear has the concept of housebreaking down and has only had a few accidents inside while adjusting to his new routine and schedule.



Personality:

He's a big, lazy, derpy boy with a heart of gold. Very affectionate and a huge cuddle bug. Bear is definitely on the laid-back side and spends more time happily snoozing. He's a skilled couch-potato who'd rather snuggle all night and watch a movie, than go run a marathon.

Behavior with people:

Bear is very attached to his loved ones and eager to be loved. He's slightly reserved upon meeting new people, but warms up super fast. He just has an aloof expression, but once you know him, you realize he doesn't have a mean bone in his body. In fact, Humphrey Bear was recently taken to an adoption event at a car dealership and he was a rockstar! He nicely greeted everyone and made a ton of friends.



Behavior with children:

Unknown, but we don't see any reason he would not do well in a home with children.



Behavior with other dogs:

Humphrey shares a foster home with two other dogs. A large middle-aged Shepherd male and a young female Pit Bull. They haven't been formally introduced yet. The older Shepherd is not welcoming and has made clear he isn't interested in a friendship with the new comer so the foster parents aren't pushing the dogs to meet. Intro with the young female is in process.



It is too soon to tell if Humphrey has the temperament to share a home with another dog. We will update his bio once we know more about him. As of now, he is not reacting negatively towards the other dogs, not even in response to the Shepherd's bad attitude.



Behavior with other animals:

Unknown.

Training:

Bear knows basic commands and is responsive. He is naturally very easy to handle and no trouble at all other than his dislike of being crated. Foster parents are working on it.
