Chester Pig
A young pig named Chester that wants to join the circus very badly. Chester longs to be a performer, but the road to stardom is rocky until someone discovers Chester's true "worldliness."
Background Info:
Chester was found abandoned and tied up at a gas station by one of MPR's volunteers. He was taken to a local animal shelter until we had room to bring him into our program. It's so evident that this sweetheart has nothing but love to give. We promised Chester that we'd find the right home for him and he'd never have to feel discarded again.
Adoption Fee: $175
Breed: Pit Bull
Sex: Male
Age: 2-4 yrs
Weight: 60-70 lbs
Health Condition:
Chester is healthy and ready for adoption!
Physical Description:
Chester is mostly white with some brown spots. His coat is so soft and velvet-like! He has a big block head that he loves to lay on your lap, while looking up at you with those big eyes that say, “pet me!” He has the cutest pink pig nose that snorts when he’s happy and snores while he’s sleeping.
Current Living Situation:
Chester is fostered in a home with two adults and one teenager. There is also a four-year-old female AmStaff that he gets to play with in the fenced-in back yard. Chester doesn't have accidents in his foster home and crate trained. He gets crated when home alone and overnight, separate from his doggy sibling. Foster parents report that he is non-destructive and no trouble at all in his crate – he is quiet and goes inside easily, especially if you offer him a snack 😉
Personality:
Chester is a total love bug. He's a happy, playful boy with a very well-balanced personality. One minute he’s the life of the party, and the next he’s snoring or flat on his back for a belly rub. He likes to spend his time stretched into a sploot on the floor, chewing a toy or curled up with a blanket on the couch. Chester also loves long walks and bouncing around the yard.
Behavior with people:
Chester is very enthusiastic to meet new people - a happy, bouncing, snorting boy who has yet to meet a stranger. And once he meets you, he can't wait for you to show him attention and praise. Then he’s ready to cuddle up on the couch for a snorefest.
Behavior with children:
Unknown. Chester has not met any young children yet, but he might be a little too strong for toddlers and young children. He’s a big ball of fun, and can be a little too enthusiastic when he says, “hello.” In fact, it’s best for people of all sizes to stay above Chester’s level when greeting him until his happy feet halt, because he thinks you should be down at his level so he can cover you in kisses! Since he could knock down a small child with his excitement, a home with teenagers or adults is suggested.
Behavior with other dogs:
After proper introductions, Chester found a friend in his doggy sibling. He enjoys napping with her in bed after breakfast most mornings, while foster parents get ready for work. How precious!
Chester is a big goofball who loves to play and cuddle, so a doggy companion that can turn it on and off as quickly as he can, would be a good match. While Chester could live with a compatible female, he's such a people lover that he would be just as content to be the only pet in his home.
Behavior with other animals:
Unknown. On walks Chester has encountered a few squirrels and showed an interest in them, but he is easily redirected. However, foster parents do think he would chase after them if he wasn’t leashed. We dont know about cats but a home with kitties is probably not the best situation for him.
Training:
Chester is housebroken, crate trained, and has mastered “sit.” He is very responsive and comes when he is called. This outgoing boy gets a little excited during the first few minutes of a walk enjoying the smells, so it takes a strong hand to hold him steady. Foster parents are working on his leash pulling since he loves to follow his nose. Chester is eager for positive reinforcement and loves to please you, so additional training would be beneficial for him.
Best Attribute:
Foster parents say, “Chester is just an absolute joy to be around. Coming home to his excited tail wags and kisses will wipe away any negativity from your day. He's a sweet, bundle of grunts and snores, and lives to be your cuddle buddy.”
Hurry and apply for this fun-loving Casanova before his foster parents decide to keep him! We need them to help another dog after Chester finds his forever home. By adopting him, you'll be saving two dogs!!
