Brick
A rectangular block typically made of fired or sun-dried clay, used in building. Brick is a boy's name of English origin. It is derived from the English term brick, meaning "a good person," "strong," or "reliable."
Background Info:
This spectacular looking boy was found as a stray and taken to the local shelter. We still don't understand why he was never claimed. His amazing disposition, great manners, and friendliness rival his stunning beauty. As they say, "One man's junk is another man's treasure," and this dog is pure gold in our eyes!
Adoption Fee: $150
Breed: Pit Bull Mix
Sex: Neutered Male
Age: 2-4 yrs
Weight: 65-75 lbs
Health Condition:
Brick is healthy and ready for adoption.
Physical Description:
Brick is a marvelous representative of the breed, inside and out. Anyone who truly appreciates the APBT breed will recognize just how splendid this dog is. He could be a show dog, he is certainly a show-stopper!
Brick is perfectly proportioned, his ears were well cropped, and his golden copper coat is healthy and shiny.
Current Living Situation:
Brick is being a good boy at MPR shelter and the volunteers are smitten with him. He is soooo good. Definitely a favorite as he doesn't cause any trouble. He is quiet and patient in his kennel, keeps it clean, and doesn't destroy his bedding.
When out in a playroom, Brick is just as good - always well-behaved, laid back, and loving. He enjoys cuddling on the couch, but if you're busy, he'll just lay at your feet and be a good, low-key companion. He is so easy to please.
While calm and collected inside, Brick lights up when playing outside and loves a good game of fetch (although he's not always a good sport about bringing the ball back 😄).
Personality:
This dog is totally amazing at matching his energy to his handler's and going with the flow. He is stoic, smart, and obedient. He loves to play and cuddle, but he's not overly needy. Brick loves to chill and be lazy in the house, but also enjoys a long walk in the park. He's up for whatever you are!
Behavior with people:
Friendly, comfortable, and well-behaved. Brick is very courteous with his greetings and not overwhelming. He might even come across as somewhat aloof or reserved, but once you know him, you quickly realize how sweet and friendly he is. He just has great manners, and he is confident and laid-back by nature.
Behavior with children:
We haven't seen Brick interact with children since being in our program but have no reason to believe he wouldn't be just as good with kids as he is with adults. That said, Brick doesn't have a huge range of expressions and may be a little hard to read for little ones. We prefer a home with individuals mature enough to understand dogs' language, and old enough to act appropriately and respectfully around a four-legged friend.
Behavior with other dogs:
We were told by the city shelter's staff that Brick briefly participated in play-groups during his short stay at the city pound and did well. There wasn't a lot of info, however, and Brick hasn't been in contact with other dogs since being with us. At the shelter he is non-reactive and doesn't participate in the occasional bickering between kennels.
Brick might be able to share a home with a compatible female if the dogs are well supervised and thoroughly managed via positive leadership. Please keep in mind that he is a very confident dog who might be dominant with other dogs that he perceives as a threat or a challenge. Brick will not be placed in a home with another male dog.
Behavior with other animals:
Unknown.
Training:
Brick is smart and knows the basics, but he enjoys learning new tricks too. He is sooooo eager to please you! Brick only had a few accidents inside the playrooms when he first arrived, then he quickly figured out the routine and uses his doggy-door to potty in his outside run if needed.
Best Attribute:
This dog is amazing on so many levels. We are still completely baffled that someone gave up on him. We consider him one of the easiest dogs in our program right now. And as if this wasn't enough to make him a great candidate for adoption, just look at him! And his beauty is not only skin-deep. Brick also has a heart of gold 💛
